On the first anniversary of her election to parliament as the first female and Liberal Democrat MP for Epsom & Ewell, we were delighted to welcome Helen Maguire to 3 Church Road and to show her our facilities. She showed great understanding of the problems our clients face, sharing some useful ideas for future funding and expressed her willingness to support us in the future.

  • Myfanwy Tothill – New Years Honours 2025

We are delighted to congratulate the Chair of our Board of Trustees, Myfanwy Tothill, for the honour she has received today, as a Medallist of the Order of the British Empire (BEM).

Over the past 30 years (22 as Chair) Myfanwy has put her heart and soul into fulfilling the roles of Trustee and Chair of LeatherHead Start, leading the extraordinary transformation of our organisation with patience and diligence.

She has led this unique service to homeless people in Surrey, as a volunteer motivated entirely by care for and empathy with people who find themselves homeless and who are some of the most marginalised, most vulnerable people in society.

  • Heather Ward

We at LeatherHead Start were very sorry to hear that Heather Ward died last Sunday. She was the Chair/Committee Member of Leatherhead Night Hostel for 16 years resigning in 2002 to fulfil her duties as the Chair of Mole Valley Council.

We knew that Heather was also very involved in the wider Leatherhead community but remember, with affection, her dedication to always wanting the very best for our clients and would do whatever was needed to achieve that for them.
